38 năm sau ngày mất, đám cưới của hai liệt sĩ diễn ra trong bối cảnh đặc biệt, giọt nước mắt tuôn rơi nơi khóe mắt đồng đội.

Một đám cưới đầy đủ nghi lễ, mọi người xúng xính áo quần đi đón dâu nhưng chỉ có di ảnh của cô dâu, chú rể. Tại nhà gái, đại diện nhà trai đặt di ảnh của đôi vợ chồng bên cạnh nhau, đôi mắt ai nấy đều đỏ hoe.

Đó là hình ảnh xúc động trong đám cưới của liệt sĩ Hoàng Thị Hồng Chiêm (1954 – 1979) và liệt sĩ Bùi Văn Lượng (1955 – 1979) ở TP Móng Cái (Quảng Ninh) vào năm 2017.

CHANGSHA, China — The United States has ordered China to close its consulate general in Houston “in order to protect American intellectual property and American’s private information,” State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said Wednesday.

Beijing vowed to retaliate, calling the order “an unprecedented escalation” in a broader conflict between the world’s two biggest economies, which now encompasses trade and technology, freedom of the press and religion, and the coronavirus and the race for a vaccine.

Bộ Tài nguyên và Môi trường lần đầu giải thích các ý kiến liên quan đến báo cáo đánh giá tác động môi trường dự án Cần Giờ. Sáng 20/7, tại cuộc họp báo thường kỳ của Bộ Tài nguyên và Môi trường, hầu hết các câu hỏi đều liên quan đến đánh giá tác động môi trường (ĐTM) dự án khu du lịch đô thị lấn biển Cần Giờ (dự án Cần Giờ). Ông Nguyễn Xuân Hải, Vụ trưởng thẩm định đánh giá tác động môi trường (Tổng cục Môi trường), nêu các nguyên tắc khi phê duyệt báo cáo ĐTM dự án Cần Giờ, như: “Phải giữ được rừng ngập mặn, có biện pháp phù hợp giảm thiểu tác động môi trường nhằm hạn chế tối đa tác động bất lợi đối với dòng chảy, xói lở, thoát lũ, ô nhiễm môi trường”.

Many private enterprises said they want to invest in building renewable energy infrastructure, but Viet Nam still lacks mechanisms to encourage private enterprises to participate in this activity.

Nguyen Tam Tien, general director of the Trung Nam Group, the first and only enterprise so far allowed to invest in national grid transmission infrastructure, highly appreciated the Politburo’s Resolution No 55-NQ/TW on Viet Nam’s strategic orientations for national energy development through 2030 because it encourages private enterprises to invest in building renewable energy infrastructure.

40,800 female births doomed in Vietnam every year

Every year, the long-standing preference for boys in Vietnam’s society terminates 40,800 baby girls before they are born, according to the United Nations Population Fund.

While Vietnam has made progress in reducing gender discrimination over the past several decades, gender-biased sex selection continues to be a widespread practice.

This is an adverse manifestation of the “son preference, which is anything but a benign tradition, a product of gender-biased systems which place higher social status to men and boys, and which favors male over female children,” the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) stated as it released the State of World Population report 2020 in Vietnam last Friday.

Vòng xoáy thuốc trừ sâu trên những cánh đồng

Năm 1956, thuốc bảo vệ thực vật gần như không tồn tại ở Việt Nam. Nửa đầu năm 2020, nước ta nhập khẩu thuốc trừ sâu nhiều hơn xăng.

Từ đầu năm 2020 cho đến ngày 15/6, Tổng cục Hải quan công bố Việt Nam đã nhập khẩu 308 triệu USD thuốc trừ sâu và nguyên liệu sản xuất mặt hàng này. Để so sánh, trong cùng kỳ, Việt Nam nhập 249 triệu USD tiền xăng.

15 Japanese firms to move China production lines to Vietnam

Vietnam is expected to attract 15 Japanese firms of different sizes that will receive Japanese government’s subsidies to shift manufacturing plants out of China to diversify its supply chain.

The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has recently unveiled a list of 87 firms that will receive JPY 70 billion (US$653 million) to implement the scheme, according to Nikkei Asian Review.

Thirty firms will shift production to Southeast Asia, including Vietnam and Laos, while the remaining 57 firms will head to Japan.

Vietnam needs to address environmental challenges to fully reap the benefits from its new free trade and investment agreements with the European Union. On 8 June, Vietnam’s National Assembly ratified the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and Investment Protection Agreement, following the European Parliament’s approval in February. Ratifying the agreement clears the path for Vietnam to expand exports to the potentially lucrative EU market and to attract more investment from the economic bloc.

Bà chủ cửa hiệu thuốc bảo vệ thực vật lôi ra ba chai “thuốc hiếm”, nói với khách: “Lần này cỏ không chết cháu không lấy tiền”.

Trong cửa hiệu thuốc bảo vệ thực vật, phân bón ở chân đê sông Đáy, huyện Hoài Đức (Hà Nội), ông chủ vườn ổi đang phàn nàn về việc thuốc diệt cỏ mua lần trước không phát huy tác dụng. “Cỏ cao hơn ổi rồi, rõ đắt mà phun mãi chả chết”, lão nông vò cái mũ tai bèo, bực dọc than thở. Minh, bà chủ cửa hàng, giải thích đấy là thuốc sinh học, an toàn nên đắt và phải dùng bền bỉ nhiều lần mới hiệu quả, nhưng chỉ nhận lại sự cương quyết từ người khách: “Cô không bán tôi đi hàng khác”.

Vietnam dismisses China claims of East Sea activity over 2,000 years ago

Vietnam Thursday dismissed Chinese claims of East Sea activities dating back 2,000 years plus and called for all countries to respect international law.

“I would like to repeat that Vietnam has full legal basis and historical evidence to assert its sovereignty over the Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) islands in accordance with international law,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang said at a regular press meet Thursday.

She was responding to inquiries regarding Vietnam’s reaction to a series of tweets Tuesday by Hua Chunying, spokeswoman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
