Chào anh chị em,

Mình nhắc lại đây chương 81, chương cuối cùng, của Đạo Đức Kinh của Lão tử để chúng ta cùng chiêm nghiệm:

Lời thành thực không đẹp, Lời đẹp không thành thực.
Người thiện không tranh biện, Người tranh biện không thiện.
Người trí không học rộng, Người học rộng không trí.
Bậc thánh nhân không thu giữ,
Càng vì người, mình càng thêm có; Càng cho người, mình càng thêm nhiều.
Đạo của Trời, Lợi mà không hại.
Đạo của Thánh nhân, Làm mà không tranh.

Lời thành thực không đẹp, lời đẹp không thành thực. Điều này thì hiển nhiên quá rồi. Thường khi mình thấy người có điểm yếu hay sai sót, mình muốn nói vài câu để giúp người phát triển, thì người tự ái và bực mình. Nhưng nếu mình nịnh hót, thì ai cũng vui.

Người trí không học rộng, Người học rộng không trí. Người tự cho là mình có trí là người thường học nhiều môn học hời hợt chuyên ngành. Thánh nhân không học nhiều như thế mà chỉ sống với Đạo trời, nên trí tuệ thâm sâu.

Thánh nhân không thu giữ, Càng vì người, mình càng thêm có, Càng cho người, minh càng thêm nhiều. Đó cũng như tình yêu, mình càng cho người từ bi bác ái của mình, thì từ bi bác ái lại càng sinh sôi nẩy nở mạnh mẽ thêm trong tim mình.

Đạo của trời lợi mà không hại. Đường của con người có lợi thì phải trả giá bằng cái hại. Ví dụ, Việt Nam muốn có Độc lập, Tự do, và Hạnh phúc thì phải có chiến tranh lâu dài chết hàng chục triệu người. Đạo của Trời có lợi mà không phải trả giá bằng có hại.

Đạo của thánh nhân, làm mà không tranh. Vì thánh nhân sống hợp với Đạo trời, không tranh chấp, nên có lợi mà không hại.

Đạo của thánh nhân – The Way of the Sage

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I will repeat here chapter 81, the last chapter, of Lao Tzu’s Tao Te Ching for us to contemplate:

Honest words are not beautiful, Beautiful words are not honest.
Good people do not argue, Arguing people are not good.
Wise people do not study widely, Widely learned people are not wise.
The sage does not keep,
The more he does for others, the more he has; The more he gives to others, the more he has.
The way of Heaven, Benefit without harm.
The way of the sage, Work without fighting.

Honest words are not beautiful, Beautiful words are not honest. This is too obvious. Usually when we see someone with weaknesses or mistakes, we want to say a few words to help them develop, they are offended and upset. But if we flatter, everyone is happy.

Wise people do not study widely, Widely learned people are not wise. People who think they are wise are people who often study many superficial specialized subjects. The sage does not study that much but only lives with the Way of Heaven, so his wisdom is profound.

The sage does not gather and keep, The more he does for others, the more he has, The more he gives to others, the more he knows. It is like love, the more we give loving-kindness and compassion (từ bi) and our big love (bác ái) to others, the more lovingkindness & compassion and big love will grow and flourish in our heart.

The Way of Heaven benefits without harm. The way of man has benefits but must be paid for with harms. For example, Vietnam wanted Independence, Freedom, and Happiness, so it had a long war that killed tens of millions of people. The Way of Heaven benefits without paying for harms.

The Way of the sage is to do without fighting. Because the sage lives in accordance with the Way of Heaven, without fighting, there are benefits but no harms.

I wish you all to do good without harm.
