Sapa corner
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Can you guess what flower does not fade in colour?
That was the question my cousin asked me when I was little. To look for the answer, I tried to think about all types of flowers that I had known, but I still had no clue.
Finally, my cousin showed me a bouquet of beautiful dried flowers. She said they were helichrysum flowers. The flowers didn’t lose their colours, despite their leaves and stems withering. This fact truly blew my mind. I couldn’t believe there was such a flower. Since then, the helichrysum has become one of my favorite flowers.

Helichrysums often start blooming in Sapa in February, when spring comes and the weather gets warmer. Their yellow, orange, red, white, and pink colours add more vitality in the springtime here. Each flower has a round and yellow centre surrounded by many little petals. Unlike other flowers, helichrysum petals aren’t soft. On the contrary, they are quite stiff and can make a rustling sound when we gently rub the petals.

Every time I come across a garden of helichrysums, I often stop for a while to admire them. I wonder why this kind of flower can last very long.

Perhaps the helichrysum is a symbol of God’s love for all of us. As His love is also fresh, everlasting, and never fades away like this flower.
Sharing with you.
Have a nice day.
Cheers,
An An
Thank you, chị Hương, for sharing.
Glad to know the helichrysum also impressed you with its eternal beauty.
Thanks for helping us understand and feel God’s love, chị Hương. I couldn’t have found my own explanation for this everlasting flower without you.
Have a lovely day, chị.

The first time I saw helichrysum flowers was when I was in middle school, around 8th grade, at the house of my friend relative.
My friend asked me: “Do you know what kind of flower does not die but lives forever?” I replied that I didn’t know. Then she showed me a bouquet of helichrysum flowers. I looked at them and I didn’t understand why they didn’t die. I dared not touch them. I was afraid I would ruin them, so I just looked at them.
It’s strange. How can there be a flower that lives so long?
And your explanation is very good. I like the idea – “Perhaps the helichrysum is a symbol of God’s love for all of us. As His love is also fresh, everlasting, and never fades away like this flower. “
Thank you, An An, for sharing.
Have a nice day.
