Chào anh chị em,

Đất nước là một từ khá trừu tượng – anh chị em, đồng bào, sông, núi, thảo mộc, muông thú… Dù là mọi thứ vẫn cụ thể, nhưng xa ta đủ để rất nhiều người trong chúng ta chẳng nghĩ gì đến đất nước bao giờ – luôn chỉ là tôi, tôi, và tôi.

Nhưng nếu bạn nghĩ nhiều về đất nước thì đương nhiên bạn sẽ nghĩ nhiều về thế giới.

Tại sao?

Vì nghĩ về đất nước thì tự nhiên bạn sẽ nghĩ đất nước ta đứng chỗ nào trên thế giới, đất nước ta đang liên kết với thế giới ra sao, đất nước đứng thứ mấy trên thế giới, người Việt ta thông thái đến đâu so với người những nước khác, thế giới đang đi về đâu…

Nghĩa là, đất nước là chiếc cầu tư duy đưa ta đến thế giới.

Điều này cho thấy nếu bạn bắt đầu quan tâm xa hơn chính bạn một chút – như là làng, xã, phường – thì bạn sẽ tự nhiên có những chiếc cầu tư duy từ từ dẫn bạn đến thành phố, tỉnh, vùng, miền, đất nước, và thế giới.

Vì vậy, khi các vị thầy lớn dạy ta yêu mọi người trên thế giới, đó không phải là điều quá xa xôi, quá trừu tượng, và quá khó. Ta chỉ cần bước chân ra khỏi vỏ ốc của mình, là bước vào làng, xóm, phường của mình, và những chiếc cầu tư duy sẽ tự nhiên sắp hàng đưa ta đến mọi người của thế giới.

Đất nước – The nation

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Country is a rather abstract word – brothers and sisters, compatriots, rivers, mountains, trees, pastures, animals… Even though everything is still concrete, it is far enough away from us that many of us never think about the country – it is always just me, me, and me.

But if you think a lot about the country, of course you will think a lot about the world.

Why?

Because when you think about the country, you will naturally think about where our country stands in the world, how our country is connected to the world, what rank our country stands in the world, how wise our Vietnamese people are compared to people in other countries, where the world is heading…

That is to say, the country is the thinking bridge that brings us to the world.

This shows that if you start to care a little bit beyond yourself – such as your village, commune, ward – then you will naturally have mental bridges that gradually lead you to your city, province, region, country, and the world.

Therefore, when the great masters teach us to love everyone in the world, it is not too far away, too abstract, and too difficult. We just need to step out of our shell, step into our village, hamlet, ward, and the mental bridges will naturally line up to take us to everyone in the world.
