Dear brothers and sisters,
When the Romantic Road was the trash road, at a middle part of the road, on the right side, there were many Panama berry trees (cây trứng cá). No one planted them, they grew on their own.
The trees were about 5m tall. Their branches spread long and drooped down to the ground. Their foliage dangled softly. The flowers with 5 petals were small and white. They bloomed every day. Every time I saw them, they made me happy. It seemed they were saying to me: “How are you?… We miss you…”
Their berries were small like marbles. At that time, the road was very dusty. White dust covered the trees, young leaves and young berries. However, dust didn’t cover the bright red ripe berries. They looked so attractive that I picked them and ate. My God, so sweet.
When someone cleaned up the road, they uprooted all the small trees, including the Panama berry trees. The road becomes cleaner but also seems more empty.
Several months ago, on the left side of the road, at the point opposite the long-gone family of Panama berry trees, a baby Panama berry was growing up. It grew very fast. Now it is almost as tall as me. Maybe next summer it will have its first flowers. Happy. I have been waiting for you.
That is the story about a family of Panama berry trees. Share with you.
Have a nice day.
