Dear Brothers and Sisters,
If you look back on your life, you will find that most sad and painful experiences gave you a lot of wisdom, and most happy experiences taught you little. That is called lesson – you have to pay high prices for good lessons.
I have never hated painful lessons. Obviously, I don’t enjoy pain, but every time I am in a painful situation, I always thank God for sending me another lesson to endure and to overcome.
Pain and sorrow are not just food for the mind, they are food for the spirit. They open the mind, but bring the spirit deep down to the abyss of death, so that the spirit rises up again gloriously on the new wings of love and God Spirit.
Think about it. A stick of steel turns into a sword after much forging, heating, hammering, filing, sharpening… All those heavy-duty and painful works make a good sword.
You don’t want to rush into pain and sorrow, but you also don’t want to run away from pain and sorrow. They are always uncomfortable – no good lesson is comfortable. Only sleeping is comfortable. Lessons, homework, works are really not comfortable – they range from OK to terrible.
So, remember that, pain and sorrow mostly come from God, to refine you and raise you up. Many comfortable and enjoyable things, like alcohol, drugs, vaping, overnight partying… probably come from the Devil himself. The Devil loves to ruin you.
Every sorrowful and painful experience is a precious lesson from God.
Wish we all be wiser.
With compassion,
Hoành
