How do you want your children to be?

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

How do you want your children to be? Honest? Wise? Gentle? Loving? Be respected and loved?…

Then, be the parent with those qualities for your children to learn from you.

Children learn the most from parents, from watching their parents and imitating their parents.

We parents affect our children in ways we don’t recognize and don’t even think about.

Since I was little in primary school until finishing college, I was constantly under pressure to study, study and study. I hated such pressure so much that, later, I never pressured my two daughters to study. I told them: “Do whatever you want. Study whatever you want. If you can’t make money, live with me.” Surprise, surprise. They both have turned out to be very hard working and successful business women. Obviously, they had watched their parents work extremely hard when they were very little and what they saw they absorbed.

Children learn by watching and imitating their parents. So, live the way you want your children to be, and they will imitate you. Don’t preach them. If your actions don’t match your words, your words are meaningless and useless.

Just be a model.

With compassion,

Hoành
