Al Green là nghệ danh của Albert Leornes Greene (sinh ngày 13-4-1946), là ca sĩ, nhạc sĩ, mục sư và nhà sản xuất thu âm người Mỹ nổi tiếng với việc thu âm loạt đĩa đơn nhạc soul vào đầu những năm 1970.
Al Green đã được đề cử 21 giải Grammy, thắng 11 giải, trong đó có giải Grammy Thành tựu trọn đời. Bài hát này, “Take me to the river”, cùng với bài hát “Let’s stay together”, là 2 trong số những bài hát của Al Green được vinh danh tại Đền Danh vọng Grammy.
